Karen Lundgren is the Flute Instructor and Chairman of the Woodwind, Brass and Percussion Department at the Colburn School of Performing Arts in Los Angeles.  She is also a lecturer in Flute at California Polytechnic University in Pomona.  Karen is a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral player who has performed with the Long Beach Symphony, the Long Beach Opera, the Pasadena Symphony, the Pasadena Chamber Orchestra, the Glendale Chamber Orchestra, and the Antelope Valley Symphony and Master Chorale.

Karen began her musical training in Chicago, where she studied with Richard Graff and Donald Peck of the Chicago Symphony.  She received her Bachelor of Music degree in Flute Performance and Music Education from Lawrence University in Wisconsin.  She continued her musical training at the USC School of Music where she received her Master of Music degree in Flute Performance.  Karen’s teachers and mentors were Geoffrey Gilbert, former principal flute of the Royal Philharmonic, Peter Lloyd, former principal flute of the London Symphony, David Shostac and Louise Di Tullio.
